Organisers at our one-day market stall in the reception area recently where hundreds of brand new items were displayed asked members of the public to name their own price.
Fundraisers Regina Waldman and Alexandra Myers set out their stall with an exciting array of household goods, garden items, toiletries, toys, games, stationery, tee-shirts and dinner and tea sets.
The goods were supplied free of charge by four wholesalers who are staunch supporters of the care home.
A drive to bring in a footfall of some 100 people resulted in raising some £1,750 which included proceeds of a raffle.
Regina, a former market stall holder, said she was “back in the old routine, pitching and selling.
“It was great fun. I have to admit though having a little weep of joy when all the goods started to arrive.
“I was overwhelmed by the suppliers’ generosity and the support we received from the public.
“It just goes to show how much Donisthorpe is loved in the community.”
The money raised will be chosen from Regina’s wish list of items most needed for the home.
