Put On A Panto at
Donisthorpe
By John Fisher
An evening in June isn’t the traditional time for a cool panto, is it?
But according to Moortown residential care home Donisthorpe Hall: Oh, yes it is.
The 183-bed home is getting ready to stage its first ever pantomime and it’s all in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Directed by Stuart Woolf, former producer of the Potato Room Players’ at Leeds City Varieties, Cinderella is to be staged June 4/5 (2.30pm) and June 6/7 (7pm) in the home’s cinema which will be specially transformed for the show.
The cast has been drawn from talented adults and children from the community and includes many staff members in leading roles.
“Residents are thrilled and the show will have a continuous Jubilee theme. It’s a lovely way to celebrate this unique Royal occasion,” says staff member Candace Grant.
Talented volunteer Fenella Conway, who runs Donisthorpe’s weekly book-club has been drafted into the props department and has already created the hats and other props.
Seats are selling fast so don't miss out call Candace or Jadwiga on 0113 268 4248.
